CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
What is CBT?
The philosophy of CBT relates to the client been thought how to understand and overcome problems. This focuses on changing your thinking, feelings, and emotions which lead to dysfunctional behaviours and belief. It is also based on the premise that emotional distress is caused by the way we think, and by changing our way of thinking we alleviates worry, anxiety and emotional distress.
By identifying core beliefs, maladaptive thoughts CBT aims to provide the insights and skills needed to get on track to independence.
Homework is set and is a very important part of the therapy. This is carried out between sessions consisting of journal, diary and working with strategies which are put in place. For example: making best use of opportunity when they are presented in making changes.
CBT is based on the belief that behaviours are learnt and hence can be unlearnt.
